When it comes to creating a digital product, you’ll want to follow our step-by-step process.
Here’s a five-step process that we recommend getting started with:
1. Product
Decide on the type of product that you’d like to create. For example: ebook, video tutorial, short course, webinar, etc. Each have their own details and benefits for the customer and you will need to determine what is best for your business and your audience.
2. Problem
You… The business owner should pick out a specific problem that your customers suffer from. This should be a common problem and something that you can provide a solution for. Ideally, the solution should be something that a customer can do in 60 minutes or less.
3. Create
Now it’s time for you to create a digital product. For many business owners, this is the most intimidating stage. You likely haven’t created a digital product before. Don’t be nervous… you got this. This is where you could work with a copywriter to flesh out your ideas into an ebook, for example. The product doesn’t need to be the flashiest and most beautiful thing ever – it just needs to deliver what it promises to your customer.
4. Publish
When the product is ready, it’s time to create a sales page. A sales page has its own anatomy and elements that it needs (Call to Action, Benefits, Who It’s For, Social Proof). You will also want to have a checkout system and automation – so that the purchases are delivered automatically to their new customer.
4. Market
Once the sales page is live, you are ready to market your new product. You’ll be doing this through paid ads, however, you could also choose to offer it to your existing customers if the product helps them too. Another important addition is an upsell… is an additional product or enhancement… that you can sign up for when you buy the first product. This is often at a discounted rate, only for the new customer.
